The industry rumors that the more vigorous mixing action enables less cement content when measuring mix design by strength, however producers with this experience are highly reluctant to discuss mix designs and profits publicly making this claim difficult to prove.

In summary, both mixers have their place in North American construction. Twin shaft mixing is growing in popularity and as the availability of mixers, parts and service become more typical so will the mixers. In the immediate, drum mixers are adequate for most projects and have been the standard in construction for a long time.
